President, representing Alameda County Flood Control Zone 7 Water District
Sarah Palmer has been on the Board of Directors of Zone 7 Water Agency for nearly 14 years, serving 3 terms as President. She has served on the Zone 7 Administrative, Finance, Tri-Valley Liaison, and Water Quality Committees. She is active in the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) presently serving as Vice-Chair of the ACWA Water Quality Committee and is on the Outreach and Agriculture Committees. Sarah is an active participant on the PFAS/PFOA workgroup, the Microplastics workgroup, and was on the 2019 ACWA Board Steering Committee. She also served as the Chair of DCA’s Delta Conveyance Stakeholder Engagement Committee.
Sarah presents STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) projects to young women through the American Association of University Women and has worked with Expanding Your Horizons, [short descriptor here]. She has also mentored high school Biotechnology Academy students and was a Girl Scout Leader for several years.
Sarah has a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cell Physiology and Biochemistry from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Political Science from New York University. She is highly experienced in communicating complex concepts to both professional and lay groups. Her work with Zone 7 and ACWA has given her the opportunity to become well acquainted with the issues facing both urban and agricultural stakeholders.
