Rod Houser is a registered civil engineer with 30 years of planning, condition assessment, design and construction experience related to water conveyance infrastructure in California. Prior to joining the DCA, he spent the previous 15+ years as the pumping and hydraulics practice leader for two previous firms before joining Jacobs in 2022. Additionally, he served as an adjunct instructor at a local community college where he taught a semester length course in pumping and hydraulics from 2012 – 2017. In his current position at Jacobs, he is serving as a senior conveyance engineer, and engineering design manager for the DCA. In addition to his registration as a California PE, he also holds AAEES specialty certification in Water Supply and Wastewater, as well as PSAP certification through the Hydraulic Institute.

Over the span of his engineering career Rod has served as a senior conveyance engineer where he led multidiscipline engineering teams on several notable water supply projects:

  • Santa Rosa Geysers Recharge System that includes four medium-voltage pump stations (40 mgd), and 40 miles of pipeline that crossed over 600 parcels
  • Monterey Pure Water Program, an ASR project that included a product-water pump station, 2 Mgal of storage, 8 miles of distribution pipeline and 4 deep injection wells
  • San Francisco’s Westside Recycled Water Program that included transmission and distribution pump stations, a buried storage reservoir in GG Park, as well as hydraulic controls required to satisfy a wide variety of delivery requirements
